Transforming Change Management: The Journey to the Build, Excite, Equip Training Course
Oh, Hello!
The Hook: Are your projects meeting their true return on investment? Are your colleagues adopting the new processes or projects your team is rolling out? Learn simple, effective steps to help your colleagues embrace change quickly and efficiently. A well-adopted change means a successful project and a thriving business.
The Who: I’m Nicola Graham, an expert in business change management, transformation, and user adoption. I began my career as a project manager before transitioning into business change management. Over the years, I’ve worked with various national and international companies, including FTSE 100 firms, large consultancy companies, and government organisations like the NHS.
I’ve seen colleagues from all walks of life adapt to new technologies, processes, and organisational changes. My experience spans IT system implementations, process improvements, and major organisational transformations.
Welcome to my journey and the creation of the Build, Excite, Equip Training Course.
The What: This training course is an evolution of my easy-to-follow BEE Methodology©—an acronym for Build, Excite, Equip. The aim is to simplify change management activities into actionable steps that project teams can easily adopt. My goal is to bridge the gap between project management and change management, ensuring that teams can effectively manage both aspects.
If you’re looking for practical guidance without complicated jargon and theories, this course is for you. The BEE Methodology© is straightforward and designed to make change management non-invasive and collaborative.
The Why: Throughout my career, I’ve seen numerous projects fail to achieve their objectives due to inadequate change management. Hard-working project teams often develop excellent tools and systems that go unappreciated or unused because the people affected by the changes were not engaged or prepared. This led me to think about how I could help bridge this gap and improve project success rates.
The Build, Excite, Equip Training Course was created to demystify change management and provide practical tools that help project teams ensure successful adoption. By focusing on clear, engaging, and supportive change activities, both project teams and end-users can achieve a higher level of success and satisfaction.
The How: In this course, I cover the basics of change management, providing practical strategies that you can immediately apply to your projects. The course is structured to help you take on change management responsibilities effectively.
Whether you’re a project manager, part of a project team, or someone looking to move into a change management role, this course is designed to help you. Here’s how you can apply the principles:
• Build: Develop a solid plan to understand the impact of the change and set the engagement strategy in motion.
• Excite: Communicate effectively to generate enthusiasm and buy-in for the change.
• Equip: Provide the necessary tools and information to help your colleagues understand and adapt to the change.
The When: The principles taught in this course can be applied to any project that impacts people, regardless of size or scope. Whether you’re implementing a new IT system, changing a business process, or restructuring an organisation, these strategies will help you ensure successful adoption.
To determine the level of change management activities needed for your project, consider the following: What does success look like? Monitor your progress throughout the project. Are you meeting your engagement and adoption targets? If not, adjust your approach accordingly. For smaller projects, a light touch may suffice. For larger, more impactful changes, a comprehensive strategy will be necessary.
Conclusion: The journey to creating the Build, Excite, Equip Training Course stemmed from a desire to improve the success rates of projects by ensuring effective change management. By following the principles outlined in this course, you can enhance your skills, improve project outcomes, and ensure a higher return on investment. Let’s work together to harness the power of effective change management and make your projects successful.
And, that was lesson one, how to write a good communication brief. The Hook, Who, what, how, why, when … more of this to follow further in the course ;-).
